A McDonald's worker has retired after 27 and a half years serving the Estevan community.

Lorna Coate began working for McDonald's on July 31st, 1996 coming into the system as a crew person.

She worked under a few different employers before co-owners and operators Tim and Christine Jenish were her employers for the next 23 years, retiring this year on January 7.

Going from a crew person to a management position, Coate also worked while Estevan McDonald's moved its location from Walmart to its current 6th Street location.

Christine says that Coate had become well known by their customers.

"The one thing about Lorna is that she had developed excellent rapport with our customers. She recognized voices and knew them by name and their order whenever they came through. She definitely will be missed by us and our customers, we wish her well in her retirement and hope to see her in the restaurant in the future for sure."

She'll be returning to the store very soon, as they'll hold a send-off that'll include customers.

"Any customers that want to come in and wish Lorna well on her retirement can join us on February the 7th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM for cake and coffee," said Jenish, "She will be there and I'm sure she would love to see everybody."
