Estevan has many great parks that residents can take advantage of this summer. There is one park that is getting renovated to let even more people have a chance to play.

Rod March, Parks Manager for the City of Estevan, explains that work is being done to make Royal Heights Veterans Park wheelchair accessible.

"I did get a few inquires as to why wheelchairs couldn't access that area."

He adds that work is also being done to make other areas ready for summer.

"We're doing some more landscaping on the medians at Kohaly Avenue and that is due to a generous anonymous gift to the city of all that brick. We're very grateful to get that and that's why we're able to proceed with that."

They also began mowing began last week. Pest controls such mosquito measures have started, and gopher controls are done.

"Sports venues we're going to be fertilizing in the next couple weeks. We're firing up all the irrigation and are parks will be open including Padwick, but just the washrooms."

He added that the water features will not be turned on as of yet.

"Just because you get one or two nice days, there's still frost in some places in the ground so we do't want to risk damaging any of that infrastructure."

"I anticipate that will be very soon."
