Usually Estevan sees back and forth between hot temperatures and thunderstorms but we haven't really seen that this year.

"We've been seeing an average August in terms of temperatures and it looks like that is going to continue. At the beginning of the month we're showing potential for a warm up through the middle of the month and we continue to see temperatures forecast just around average this time of year. An average high is around 26-27 degrees," explained Regional Meteorologist John Paul Cragg.

"It looks like August could still be dry in a few areas but not nearly as dry as most of Southern Saskatchewan saw in July."

It's been one of the driest summers Estevan has had.

"Some areas that were really dry in July saw some rain through August, which has been a little bit wetter than July has for most areas. Down in the South East you guys haven't seen a lot of rain but the station in Estevan has shown 26 mm of rain so far this August, so it's not all far under average for this time of year for precipitation," he shared.

"Average rainfall for August is 51.7 mm for Estevan and so far we've seen 26, so it's close to average but it's half way through the month."
