SGI Canada announced this week they have posted a record profit of 52.4 million dollars in 2009.
Other highlights in 2009 included premium growth of 8 per cent, strong customer service ratings and a paid dividend of 34 million dollars to Crown Investments Corporation.
June Draude, Minister Responsible for SGI is happy with the way 2009 played out, and is confident 2010 will also be a profitable year. She says that a one of the big factors that will determine the success for the next year will be the weather
Draude said the poor weather in December was the reason the auto fund posted a loss this past year. She said other reasons included the loss to the large number of insured vehicles in 2009, which in effect drew higher claim costs.
