Though new cases of COVID-19 topped the 300-mark for the second straight day, there was some good news from the province of Saskatchewan in today's count, and in particular for the Estevan area. The release yesterday promised more recoveries in the days ahead, and today's numbers reflected that.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported a new daily record of 345 recoveries today, for a provincial total of 6466. For the second straight day, the provincial health authority predicted a decline in active cases was still to come as recovery numbers were still backed up.

The news was not all positive, however, as the province announced 324 new cases as well, upping the 7-day average to 283. There were also four additional deaths, with two people over the age of 80, one person in their 50s, and another person in their 30s in the North Central area.

Active cases declined for the second time in three days today, with 4,682 cases now considered active in Saskatchewan. There are 138 people hospitalized due to the virus, including seven in the southeast.

Today's new cases are located in the Far North West (15), Far North Central (3), Far North East (15), North West (47), North Central (37), North East (9), Saskatoon (109), Central West (1), Central East (6), Regina (53), South West (15), South Central (2) and South East (8) zones. Four new cases have pending residence information.

Subzone southeast four continued a streak of no new cases today, as the eight cases in the South East zone are mostly in subzone southeast one (7), with the remaining case in subzone southeast three. Better still, there seems to have been a string of recoveries in Estevan's subzone, as there are now just four active cases in the area, the fewest of any subzone in the province.

Saskatchewan has conducted 375,881 COVID-19 tests so far. Yesterday, the province conducted 3476 tests.
