Premier Scott Moe and Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab provided a COVID-19 update from the Regina Legislature this morning.
You can watch the full update below.
Included in the update was an expansion of the current COVID regulations, moving the expiration date for those measures to February 28th. They will then be measured to see if they're still necessary.
Saskatchewan also introduced no new restrictions, with Premier Moe citing Saskatchewan's relative success compared to other provinces in Canada.
He says that compared to a 23% increase in hospitalizations and a 68% decrease in ICU admissions since December 21st. That's compared to other provinces which racked up around 5X times the hospitalization rates and around a doubling of ICU admissions.
He also cited the harmful effects that lockdown policies can have on people, such as the economic effects of being unable to work and the psychological harms that can come from people losing contacts.
