High powered winds have caused a lot of damage over the weekend and SaskPower has been busy dealing with outages.

SaskPower spokesperson, Joel Cherry, said they have been busy these past couple of weeks due to the wind.

"We have seen a number of outages due to the high winds that we have had and that has been happening for a few weeks now. More immediately over the weekend, we had several outages."

High winds like this are a concern because they can directly cause issues or the high winds can cause trees to fall down on them. Line galloping can occur which is when the lines buck up and down and it can cause them to break.

"About one-third of our outages are due to weather and storms."

SaskPower has seen both small and large outages this year.

"Anytime you have a line contact you have to treat that situation as dangerous and stay ten feet away at all times."

Call 310-2220 to report the line damage so they can de-energize it and make repairs as soon as possible.

"We know outages are inconvenient and we thank our customers for being patient when these outages due occur. Hopefully, we will get some calmer conditions soon and we won't have to deal with as many of these."
