Having only eight skaters didn't bother the U-11 Estevan Tier Silver Bruins boys hockey team on the weekend.

The shorthanded squad managed to bring home a bronze medal from the U-11 Tier II Classic Tournament in Moose Jaw.

The team finished second in their pool, then lost the semi-final game to the Moose Jaw Blackhawks before toppling the Moose Jaw Wolfpack 9-4 in the bronze medal game.

"The boys showed a lot of heart, strength and perseverance to pull off a Bronze medal win in this 6 game marathon," said head coach Dustin Hockey in an email. "Our offense never let up, with our defense and goalie shutting the door at the other end. We played like a team and were rewarded for it."

The Moose Jaw tournament had 12 teams competing.
