Christa Morhart was raised in Estevan and returned seven years ago with her feet running. She is a mother of three and works full time at Turnbull's Excavating. She is very active in the community volunteering with the Sacred Heart School community Council, St Joseph's Hospital Foundation and with the United Way where she was the president in 2016.

"I feel very humbled and privileged. Its nice to be recognized but that isn't why I do it."

She mentioned that she shares this award with her fellow nominee, Jessie Smoliak.

"Every board that I volunteer with, we are a team. Jessie is the same and she has a team behind her and she has done great things in the community. I think everyone who has been nominated is a winner," explained Morhart. "Because there's not just one person that makes an impact on this community, everyone makes an impact together but there are so many people in this community that volunteer."

One cause that is dear to her heart, is the Girl Guides of Canada. She is currently a Pathfinder leader and the District Commissioner.

"With Girl Guides, it's all women so 'Girl Greatness Starts Here' is our motto. I've always been a huge promoter of Girl Guides since I was a girl."

She expressed her pleasure in seeing more women volunteering in the community.

"I see women getting more and more involved as business owners, entrepreneurs. I see them more and more involved when it comes to different boards. They're stepping up to president roles. Our executive on United Way has consistently been male, female, male, female. Our board is about half and half right now."

Morhart also wanted to thank the people close to her.

"I really need to give shout out to my husband and my children and my family because they support me. There's countless times when my husband makes sacrifices and so do my children so that I can attend an event or get out and volunteer. And they also follow me in everything I do, so where I volunteer, they volunteer. And a shout out to my boss, Ed Turnbull, who also gives me the opportunity to be able to do what I do."
