Housing scams are becoming an increasing concern in Estevan.

The Estevan Police Service reported receiving another report of an attempted rental fraud on Wednesday.

The victim forwarded personal information to an alleged landlord in the form of a rental agreement, before learning that the home wasn't actually for rent.

"Unfortunately those rental agreements frauds, we seem to be getting those more and more too," said EPS Const. Danielle Stephany.

Stephany said the matter remains under investigation.

She added that personal information landing in the wrong hands can lead to issues, even if money isn't initially exchanged.
