A new Constable has joined the ranks of the Estevan Police Service.

Michelle Pickering was formerly a Special Constable in her 3 and a half year stint as the Bylaw Enforcement Officer for the City of Estevan. However, she was sworn in late Thursday afternoon, and the extra prefix can now be dropped.

"I love the EPS, and have always wanted to be a part of the Estevan community on a larger level," she stated.

"I went into the bylaw position knowing that I wanted to be a Constable, and it just reaffirmed that. I enjoyed my time in the role and I'm really looking forward to moving forward."

Pickering said that, overall, she enjoyed her time in her former spot.

"It was good. It has it's ups and downs, it's kind of a thankless job, but it's definitely given me some great insight and experiences. I wouldn't change it."

She will continue in her duties until the end of July, at which time she will head for the Saskatchewan Police College in Regina, a move that she expressed makes her nervous but very excited. She expressed similar sentiments regarding her new rank.

"It's a little overwhelming, a little hard to wrap my head around. I still have a few weeks left in bylaw, so I'm just trying to tie up some loose ends and make sure that I finish that off on a good note."
