#PlaidforDad was created to bring awareness to prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men, where 1 in 7 is diagnosed with it.

Robin Speer Volunteer Chair for Prostate Cancer Saskatchewan, "we're in our fifth year now so 2015 is when it began." Plaid for Dad is a new father's day tradition expecting thousands of workplaces and individuals from across Canada to Go Plaid and help end prostate cancer through donations, fundraising, and events. The Friday before Father’s Day is officially designated as the day to wear Plaid for Dad. Participants will share photos online using the hashtag #PlaidforDad to show their support and help spread the word.

"The reality is if its detected early its nearly 100% treatable, and so plaid for dad is a fun employee engagement workplace campaign so that men, their families, and colleagues can talk about their health. Raise awareness that you should get tested early and that outcomes are very good and always improving."

Over the past 25 years, thanks to our supporters, Prostate Cancer Canada has accomplished so much. The mortality rate has been cut in half and we’ve invested over $120 million in research. If detected early, survival is now close to 100 percent. Sadly, we’re still losing too many “dads” to this disease; over 4,000 each year. We know with your help, we can change that!

"A lot of men like plaid, especially in Saskatchewan and in rural Saskatchewan as well. I've got a wardrobe full of plaid, it's about celebrating men and father's around the father's day season. It's easy and accessible it's not running a marathon or anything like that. Everyone has a little bit of plaid in their wardrobes, so you know its a twist on casual or jeans Friday. If you're in the AG sector world you might be wearing plaid anyway." Speer goes on to say how you can get involved, "sign up your office by heading over to https://www.plaidfordad.ca/."
