The end of June into July has seen daily average temperatures above normal for this time of year, and that trend will continue this weekend in Estevan and Southeast Saskatchewan. Environment Canada has day time highs from the low to mid thirties expected Friday through to Sunday.

"Saturday there will be a bit of a cool down with temperatures only getting to 31," Environment Canada's John Paul Cragg said with a laugh. "With over night lows Saturday night into Sunday not sinking very far, we may have to issue heat warnings."

When night time lows don't drop below 16 and day time highs hit the low to mid thirties, it can become a problem.

"The heat could pose a risk to people if you're spending a lot of time outside or if you have health conditions that could be exasperated by the heat. It's really important to stay hydrated and cool with the heat building up."

He also mentioned to know and recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke so you know when to go to the hospital, or when to call the health line. Click here for safety tips.

Although temperatures are suppose to hit 32 on Sunday, a low pressure system could change that.

"There's a chance of thunderstorms thanks to the low pressure system that also might help keep temperatures a little cooler in the afternoon. It does have the potential to bring some severe weather on Sunday afternoon in the form of thunderstorms."

Almost all of Saskatchewan will cool off to start next week according to Environment Canada, which can be attributed to that same low pressure system.

"Northwest winds and cooler air should make its way to the province by Monday, and we're looking at daytime highs closer to average for this time of year," Cragg concluded.
