A teenager was arrested Friday after an incident where a knife was displayed during an incident.

The Estevan Police Service said the 16 year old was arrested for possessing a weapon dangerous for public peace. Nobody was physically injured in the incident. Police said the youth was released under conditions and has a future court date.

The police reported three calls about assaults on Saturday and another on Sunday.

One Saturday assault was reported at a residence in the south part of town. Police said the issue was family-related, and cooled off without further incident. But the EPS PACT Unit and Victim Services will continue to investigate.

Another Saturday assault was also reported at a residence in southern Estevan. Police said when they arrived, the found out an intoxicated man had actually slipped on the ice after getting out of a vehicle and injured himself. EMS attended and the man was released with minor injuries.

The other Saturday assault was reported at a residence in the northeastern part of the city. A 58-year-old man was arrested for teh assault when police arrived, and was kept in cells. He's scheduled for Estevan Provincial Court on March 6.

And Const. Don Dechief reported that on Sunday night police were called to a report of an assualt on the south side. The situation calmed down when police arrived, and a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital for a mental-health assessment. Police are still investigating the matter.

A traffic stop in central Estevan resulted in a 43 year old Estevan man being arrested and charged for impaired driving. He was transported to EPS where he was lodged in cells until sober. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on March 6, 2023 at 9:30 AM

Check stops through an EPS and SGI sponsored initiative were done throughout the evening resulting in many passed Approved Screening Device tests. A number of traffic violation tickets were served however, including a ticket served under the Cannabis Act which resulted in a small amount of marijuana being seized. The initiative also resulted in a traffic stop in central Estevan where a 43 year old Estevan man was arrested and charged for Impaired driving. He was transported to EPS where he was lodged in cells until sober. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on March 6, 2023 at 9:30.

Police are investigating a driving complaint after a vehicle reportedly cut off another motorist causing that vehicle to slide into a snow bank.
