The Estevan Motor Speedway is preparing for a busy long weekend of races with favourable weather conditions in the forecast.

Speedway President Brad Pierson said this weekend is dubbed "Border Challenge Weekend" with a good amount of racers expected to come up from the United States.

"I really feel we're going to bring in that Williston base of drivers and surrounding areas," Pierson said. "When we ran two weeks ago, we had great support out of Minot as well."

"I think giving these guys a double header, the opportunity where they only have to drive in and make one trip for two nights of racing."

Pierson said the speedway is starting to gain momentum as well.

"There's a lot of really excited people, and Estevan of course is a very popular speedway," he said. "We're starting to hear names that we don't usually see here on regular nights, only on special nights, so we think it's going to be great and we hope the crowd follows for that."
