The SJHL will hold their annual bantam draft on Friday in Nipawin during the league's annual general meetings.

The draft is open to Saskatchewan residents who have finished their bantam eligibility. Room must be made available on each clubs 50-player protected list to allow for the addition of players selected in the draft. Although there are six rounds in the draft, not every team is required to select six players.

After the Bruins took a step forward last year by winning their first division title in ten years, they'll look to add to that success in the upcoming season, and that starts with the bantam draft.

"Of course you want to take the best player available but they also have to fit within our needs," explains Bruins Head Coach and General Manager, Chris Lewgood. "It's tough to forecast where guys are going to be three years down the road."

Projecting a players potential can be a difficult task, but also finding players with the right attitude and mindset is something that is just as important to the Bruins Head Coach.

"There's a type of player we're targeting for our culture and our team philosophy. We need to identify guys that we think would want to play in Estevan, guys that would be proud to be a part of the community as well as do a good job of representing the Bruins"

"We have a short list of guys that are very high on our radar that we will talk to, and as the draft moves along, we'll move into a bit of an unknown territory as things start to unfold with some of the players. We might try to bolster the middle of our draft by adding a pick but nothing is set in stone."

As for the potential of acquiring players via trade, Lewgood says they haven't discussed any player movement regarding the draft at all.
