Joyce Mack is the ECS Cosmetology teacher for over 20 years. She teaches full time and also volunteers with the school musicals and at the Estevan Motor Speedway concession. In addition to that, she has also put in countless hours training and travelling with students involved in Skills Canada.

"I like doing it because I want to see the industry represented and I want to give the students the opportunity to see what kind of career opportunities are out there and to meet the challenges that are out there. A lot of the skills and the knowledge base that we take can be put into any trade or industry. It's teaching them how to work and to be a part of their growth and that is what is exciting for me."

She also helped develop a new cosmetology and practical and applied arts that was put into effect a few years ago.

When asked what the award means to her, Mack's thoughts went immediately to her students.

"This award means all the students who have worked so hard for me over the years and put in endless hours and have grown and flourished. For me, it is recognizing, from the parents and the students, all their successes and that together and with time, everyone will be successful and have a future to look forward to.

"I don't think I'm going to be retiring quite yet. I like it too much. I like watching them grow. Slow down? I don't know what that is. When I'm not at school working, I'm at the race track working. I like to be busy. It's just kinda who I am."
