Since a dramatic uptick in cases last month, Saskatchewan has done a good job gradually bringing COVID-19 numbers in the province back to a manageable level. That trend continued with today's announcement of new cases and recoveries from the provincial government.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported just two new cases of the virus today, and 16 additional recoveries. This means that recoveries outnumber new cases for the 12th straight day, and there have been single-digit new cases in each of those days as well.

Today's new cases are the far northwest, the first such case in that region in weeks, and the Saskatoon zone, which now has eight active cases. The number of cases province-wide has risen to 1611.

Overall, however, active cases took another drop today as 16 people recovered. Total recoveries in the province now number 1543. Active cases fell down to 44. The province has determined 20 of those 44 cases are in communal living settings.

The southwest still owns the highest number of active cases of any zone in the province with 13. The south-central is right behind at 11. But the southeast continues not to have any cases, for the 15th straight day now, and the central-east region is now free of active cases as well.

There are still three people hospitalized due to the virus, with two in intensive care units and one receiving inpatient care, all three of which are in Saskatoon. Today's recoveries have been fairly spread out as there are three fewer cases in the southwest, two fewer in the south-central, and four fewer in the northwest as of today.

According to the latest testing data from Saskatchewan, the province has performed 136,333 tests so far. Yesterday they performed 1561 tests, and continue to have available testing for anyone who requests it.
