You may be aware of the online feud that has recently begun between two generations.

That's right. Gen Z Vs. Millennials.

I was born in the year 2001 so technically I would be Gen Z. But as someone who grew up somewhere in between, I like to consider myself a 'Zennial' and I've got a few things to say.

I'm Gen Z but the Gen Z who still remembers passing notes in class rather than sending snapchats.

I'm Gen Z but the Gen Z who had to physically go knock on my friend's door if I wanted to ask to hang out.

I'm Gen Z but the Gen Z who traded silly bands on the playground.

And I'm Gen Z but the Gen Z grew up with commercials in the middle of my shows and had the thrill of running to the bathroom and grabbing a snack before whatever Disney cartoon I was watching started again.

Now from what I can understand, the internet drama first began when the younger generation decided that wearing your hair with a side part or continuing to wear skinny jeans is just not cool anymore. As we know these were both popular trends for Millenials.

With that, some took to the app TikTok to express their very...loud opinions.

Saying things like "At least our generation didn't eat tide pods!" (yikes do you remember that trend) Or coming at us for being the first generation who almost always had access to the internet making us 'Tech-Obsessed'.

While both are valid, the truth is... Most of Gen Z really does not care.

Gen Z-ers are far too busy with their dance trends and whipped coffee to worry about how you choose to present yourself.

As I said earlier this is my generation, and I just have to ask...why you mad?

Look, I grew up rocking that very same side part all throughout high school but recently switched it on over to the middle. Not for the approval of others but because I feel it suits me better. And you should do exactly that.

Find what makes you feel most like yourself and go with it. Do and wear whatever makes you happy.

In my opinion, the world has far too many issues that we could be putting our attention towards instead of fighting over whether leggings are still 'in' or not.

Instead of bringing each other down let's come together. To one, fight this pandemic, and two, make the world a better place for generations to come!

So dear Millenials, keep your skinny jeans, side parts, and minion Facebook memes and we will keep our mom jeans, middle parts and dry humour.

Let's join forces now because we all know Gen Alpha is well on its way to growing up and will soon be making fun of both of us.

Honestly, at the end of the day, we're all on a floating rock headed towards the same inevitable ending.

As long as what you're doing doesn't hurt anyone else. Do whatever you want and let others do the same.

Sincerely, an older Gen Z. Or Zennial, perhaps.
