The Estevan Police Service were able to help one person fall victim to a scam, and have suspects in mind regarding a second fraud call they received on Tuesday.

Const. Danielle Stephany reported that a complainant was told their grandson was in jail and needed money for bail, but police intervened before any money was exchanged.

She said another report of fraud involved cheques being forged.

"Possible suspects were identified," she said. "But we're still gathering information on that one."

Police also reported the following Tuesday calls:

  • A transport collided with a fire hydrant. The driver was located and the matter is under investigation
  • A report of uttering threats. Police spoke with all parties, and are investigating.
  • Reports of break-and-enters in the Hillside area. You can read more here.
