Theft investigation solved

Police charged a pair of women that were caught on camera at a retail store in the Estevan Shoppers Mall before dashing to a car with stolen goods on July 25.

The Estevan Police Service released a surveillance photo of the suspects last month, and were ultimately able to identify them.

Sgt. Tyler McMillen said they reached out to the 22- and 24-year-olds from Estevan on Sunday, and they turned themselves in Monday evening.

"They cooperated, they were nice enough, they returned a number of the stolen items from the store. So we'll be able to return them."

The women were not named, as they won't appear in court until September. They were charged with theft under $5,000, and are not in custody.

Suspicious activity on 8th Street

Police are urging residents to check their yards to see if anything has been stolen.

A dog alerted a homeowner of somebody in a backyard on the 1200 block of 8th Street last night.

"Nothing appears to be missing at this time," said McMillen. "But police do have a suspect in mind. Patrols were made, and we did see somebody that we know in the area."

McMillen asked that you call the station if you see anything missing.

120-day licence suspension

A novice driver will be without his license for around four months after testing positive for THC in his system.

McMillen said an oral fluid device was used and tested positive roadside. The 120-day suspension is the new SGI penalty for a second offence of that kind.
