Estevan Fire Chief Rick Davies shared some recent events involving the Estevan Fire Department over the last week.

June 07:

Later the same day at just after 2 pm, EFR was dispatched to a report of a 2 vehicle collision just south of the city. Incident command responded, with no injuries and very minor damage. Determined EFR assistance was not required and crews were stood down.

June 08:

Just before 11 AM, EFR was advised of carbon monoxide alarms active at a business on the west side of the city. Incident command responded to investigate, with carbon monoxide readings confirmed. Sask Energy was requested to scene and investigated. The cause of the issue was determined and the building was turned back over to the owner. Minor issues and no injuries to report.

A bit before 6 PM, EFR was dispatched for a grass fire North West of the city along Highway 39. Crews responded, finding a very small area of grass had burnt in the ditch along the highway that the caller on scene had already extinguished. Crews confirmed the fire was extinguished and returned to the station.

Just prior to 8 PM, EFR was dispatched for a 2 vehicle collision on the south side of the city. Crews responded and confirmed no injuries and minor damage. Assisted EPS and returned to station.

June 09:

Just after 930 PM, EFR was dispatched to a commercial residence in the central part of the city. Crews responded and determined it to be a cooking-related incident and EFR assistance was not required.

June 12:

The morning's call came in at 940 AM for a report of a fire on a balcony at an apartment complex on the south side of the city. Crews responded and confirmed extinguishment of the fire and confirmed no fire extension to the building. No injuries to report, with minor damage to the exterior of the area due to fire. No reported damage to the interior of the building.
