The Sasktel Tankard is charging toward us fast here in Estevan, and by the end of the month Affinity Place will have made the switch from beautiful hockey rink to beautiful curling rink.

Helen Fornwald of the Estevan Tankard Commitee has her hands full between now and then. The committee still needs volunteers, though they've had no shortage of support to this point. Ticket sales come into focus as well as we're just over three weeks away from throwing stones at houses in the Energy City.

The field of the Tankard is becoming clearer as well. More teams have qualified over the past few weeks, with slots made for a few more tournament winners to fill as the days tick down to the Tankard. One thing's for sure: the field will be competitive. We'll see some excellent curling at Affinity Place before the Tankard wraps up on February 4.

Here's our full conversation with Helen, who breaks down the home stretch of Tankard preparations and shares what she's most looking forward to.
