After a year off, the McLeod series between Weyburn Comprehensive School and Estevan Comprehensive School was set to resume Wednesday night in Estevan. The storied four-game, total-point basketball series features the senior boys' and senior girls' squads from both schools and is one of the biggest highlights of the year for the student-athletes.

The games Wednesday, however, had to be cancelled, as Mother Nature brought a Colorado low into southeast Saskatchewan. Officials made the decision to postpone the first two games of the series as the road conditions were anything but ideal.

Thursday morning, the new dates for the series were announced, and it will mean a week of basketball action in the southeast.

The first two games will be played Tuesday in Estevan, with the boys hitting the court at 5:30 p.m., and the girls after at 7:00 p.m. The second half of the series will be Thursday night in Weyburn, with the girls playing at 5:30 p.m., and the boys at 7:00 p.m.

The McLeod series has been played since 1931. This year is the 87th edition of the event, with the only years missed being a stretch from 1971 to 1974, 2021, and 2023.

Weyburn has the lead in the overall wins, taking the series 47 times, including winning the last four editions.
