The Toronto Blue Jays enjoyed an off day yesterday as they head south to Florida.

The Jays have enjoyed a decent start to the first month of the season going 8-6. With a couple of the players leading the way.

Vernon Wells is starting to perform like the player that picked up a huge contract extension a few years ago. Wells has 7 homeruns this year which is a great start considering he only had 15 all of last year. He is the only Blue Jay with an above 300 average and has 12 RBIs. The Jays are hopeful that Wells success doesn't last just for the month of April.

Alex Gonzalez has been a nice surprise for the Jays, known mostly for his defence. The shortstop has brought some pop to his bat as well, nailing 5 homeruns and adding 11 RBIs. Gonzalez has filled a big void for the Jays who are expecting 2nd baseman Aaron Hill off the 15 Day DL today.

The Jays bullpen has already done some shuffling, Jason Frasor had emerged from Spring Training as the closer but after blowing 2 saves in the first week the job appears to belong to Kevin Gregg who has picked up 4 saves this season.

The Jays will open against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight, lefty Brett Cecil will make his first start of the season for the Jays. You can catch it on CJ1280 beginning at 5:00.
