As winter is quickly approaching, many are already starting to plan trips to hot destinations over the winter months.

According to CAA Saskatchewan’s general manager travel services Terry Kaszas, this is the time of year when people are seriously starting to think about booking their trips.

“Most people start looking around mid-August, but they start getting really serious just after Labour Day. Generally, they start saying geez, that white stuff is going to come and it is going to get cold,” he said.

He added that not much has changed when it comes to popular destinations.

“In general, not very much has changed from the last couple of years’ schedule. Mexico is still extremely popular out of Saskatchewan, there’s Cuba, there’s Dominican, and we can honestly get you anywhere you want to go,” Kaszas commented.

The good news is that it could be a lot easier to get to those destinations.

In July, the Regina Airport Authority announced nine non-stop international destinations this winter through WestJet and Sunwing.

The destinations included Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan in Mexico, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana in the Dominican and Varadero in Cuba.

For those looking to stay closer to home, there are also non-stop flights in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Orlando in the United States.
