The spring session of the House of Commons wrapped up last month. Now, Members of Parliament are back in their constituencies, where they will still be working, but do get the chance for some rest and recreation as well.

Souris-Moose Mountain MP Dr. Robert Kitchen has already been busy since returning from Ottawa. On Canada Day, he was in Bienfait for the annual parade. Before that, he travelled to Vibank and Kipling for graduation ceremonies. He attended the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce Parade Thursday and still has a lot more to do in the coming weeks.

He will be off to Moosomin next week, then other parts of the riding after that.

“I’ll travel around throughout that area, and getting out to Coronach, I want to get out into that area, and Radville,” Kitchen said. “My truck will feel a lot of miles on it as we drive around to sit and chat and hear.”

Talking with constituents is an important part of the summer for Kitchen, but it isn’t the only thing he has on the agenda. He is making sure that he also makes time for family.

“I also have to recognize that I need to spend time with my wife because I’ve been going back and forth to Ottawa and she’s been here, and so I need to spend some downtime with her and my family,” Kitchen told Discover Weyburn.

He also has something important to accomplish this summer, and it isn’t in the riding: meet his new grandchildren.

“Our daughter-in-law and son are expecting twins in Saskatoon in the next week, so I may be rushing up to Saskatoon to greet some pretty, smiling faces.”
