When you get chills listening to music it stimulates reward pathways in the brain. Sad music often triggers chills more often than happy music, yet evokes positive emotions. Sad songs may activate a fear response in the brain, but when no real threat is present, the response turns positive.

I have this happen to me all the time listening to music. Usually it's a new song I haven't heard before but every once in a while, I'll get the feeling when a song resonates with me in a different way for the first time.

This morning while listening to Metallica's Enter Sandman I didn't get the chills but I did have a nostalgic moment when I remembered the first time I got the Chills.

I wanted to put a song here that gives me the chills every time. But I don't have one, and I think that's a good thing. It makes it a more in the moment personal experience.
