A 3 a.m. Monday ride back to the station for an Estevan Police Service officer on bike patrol was interrupted by a traffic stop that led to a pair of women being arrested on drug charges.

Sgt. Tyler McMillen said two Regina women were arrested for possession of meth and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

"[The officer] was patrolling in areas where we've had thefts and different criminal activity going on, and was actually just making his way back to the office when he located that vehicle parked in a spot where it shouldn't have been," said McMillen.

"It was just very obvious and he engaged and spoke to the two women."

The driver is also being investigated for drug-impaired driving.

McMillen said the investigation "is still in the very early stages," and more information will be released when it becomes available.
