Last week it was announced that Enbridge's Line 3 pipeline would be delayed by up to one year. The main cog for completion? Waiting for U.S. state permits to be approved.

The project was initially expected to be completed in 2019, but now it is projected for mid 2020. Permits from the state of Minnesota were expected to be completed by the second part of 2019, but will instead be delayed until November.

Line 3 will be replacing an existing pipeline, and will improve capacity from 370,000 barrels a day to 760,000 barrels per day.

Unfortunately this is not Canada's only pipeline delay. The Trans Mountain Pipeline is also being obstructed as it awaits further regulatory review.
