Another fatal collision on highways in southeast Saskatchewan.

Yesterday, officers from the Estevan RCMP detachment, along with officers from Carnduff, Traffic Services, the Integrated Border Enforcement Team and officers from the Estevan Police Service, responded to a collision on Highway 39 near Macoun around 3:00 p.m.

The initial report of the investigation was that a truck had collided with a van. After the initial collision, a semi, with a trailer, blocked the highway in an effort to avoid the initial collision. The collision also closed the highway for a period of time.

The driver of the van, a 37-year-old man from Regina, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The five occupants of the truck, four adults and one minor, did not report any injuries to the RCMP. The driver of the semi did not report any injuries either.

The investigation into the collision is still ongoing. The Estevan RCMP detachment is investigating with assistance from an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
