SaskPower has scheduled a planned power outage for Thursday afternoon close to Midale.

The utility company said the outage is schedule for between 2 and 5 p.m. Thursday and will affect customers west and northwest of Midale.

"In this case the work being done is to replace pothead, which is kind of a humourously named piece of equipment, but that's where an overhead line transitions to an underground line," said SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry. "In order to do that work safety, we're going to have to shut off the power for 27 customers."

Cherry said the community of Midale itself would not be impacted by the outage.

"It's relatively limited in terms of the customer impact," he said.

Cherry added that planned outages are a regular occurrence in Saskatchewan.

"We have planned outages in Saskatchewan every day. It helps us to do proactive maintenance, to make sure we have our system as reliable as possible, and reduce the number of unplanned outages that we have," Cherry said.

"We know that any outage whether it's planned or unplanned can be inconvenient, and so we always appreciate our customer's patience as we work to complete our work as quickly as we can safely do so."

He said the customers who will be impacted by Thursday's outage have already been notified.
