A flood of COVID-19 cases slowed to a trickle today as Saskatchewan announced four new cases of the virus throughout the province. The Saskatchewan Health Authority also said one new person is in hospital, while there has been one new recovery.

The four new cases bring the active caseload above 100 for the first time in over a month, with 101 cases considered active. In total, Saskatchewan has now seen 757 cases of COVID-19.

The latest increase in cases isn't concentrated in any one region either. Of the four cases, two new cases are in the far north, one is the north, and one is in the south. In addition, one of the new cases is a Saskatchewan resident who tested positive outside the province.

We are about two weeks removed from a time where new cases were fairly stagnant in the province. Thus, two weeks later, the recent stagnation in recoveries. Just one recovery today brings the provincial total to 643.

Five people are hospitalized due to the virus, an increase of one from yesterday's count. Four out of five are receiving inpatient care with an even split of two in the south and two in Saskatoon. The lone case in intensive care is in the south region.

To date, Saskatchewan has performed 61,856 COVID‐19 tests. This amounts to 46,345 people tested per million population, below the national average of 66,053 people tested per million population.
