After a week of mostly smaller increases in both new cases and recoveries, Saskatchewan saw a sharp increase in both today relative to the rest of the week. The net result is that, once again, active cases rose just slightly.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority announced today they had found 19 new cases of the virus throughout the province. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan now stands at 1776.

In keeping with the pattern lately, most of these cases are in Saskatoon, with 12 of the 19 being located there. Of those dozen cases, six have been identified as being in the workplace at Brandt industries.

Regina and the central-west zone are responsible for the remaining seven cases. Four of them are in Regina and seven are in the central-west. Saskatoon now has more than half of the province's active cases with 61. Only one region, the far north-central, has no active cases.

The province also reports 15 additional recoveries today, so the rise in active cases was modest. Active cases now stand at 113. According to provincial data, 24 of these 113 cases are in communal living settings.

Though the province does not officially list where recoveries are located, a quick look at their interactive maps seems to show two recoveries from this latest batch are in the southeast zone. Yesterday, the southeast had four active cases. Today, that number has dropped to two.

Saskatchewan performed another higher number of tests yesterday, with 1980. In total, there have been 166,646 tests conducted in the province to date.
