Last week, RM Officials throughout the province participated in the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) Midterm Convention in Saskatoon.

"It was a good convention with lots of discussion on some resolutions. They had very informative sessions and I enjoyed my time," expressed RM of Browning Reeve, Pius Loustel.

Many workshops were held at the event to help Reeves and RM Officials succeed at their positions. Loustel went to the "Conflict of Interest" and "Harassment in the Workplace" workshops.

"The first workshop I attended was mainly for the new Council Members, learning what you can and can't do. It's a good refresher course for me because I've been in Council for a while. We learned some procedures in municipal government and how to act on them accordingly. For the second workshop, we just learned how we should be dealing with problems that arise  and what you can and can't do to your colleagues."

He admitted that the Convention is a good refresher course where you learn something new.

"If you go there, be attentive and attend all the sessions, you'll learn something," Loustel concluded.
