Sacred Heart School celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday evening. The celebration began on Monday and led up the school's come and go open house on Thursday night for all in the community to attend.

"We chose this week as it’s education week in Saskatchewan, so I felt it was a great opportunity for us to celebrate who we are and what we’ve done in the community and to bring all those people together to share in the wonderful event that we had going on this evening," explained Amber Hilstrom, principal of Sacred Heart School. "One of the big things that we did was we compiled a video of past and present students, families, and staff. We unveiled that on Monday with the students in a school assembly where we also had some classes present some presentations on 60 years of education, whether it was dances or skits and songs. The students put those on for the whole school, as well some parents came and enjoyed it as well."

To complete their celebration, Father Anthony will be joining the school for a mass.

"It’s amazing," noted Hilstrom. "It’s quite an accomplishment for us, and of course, our school had developed so much from when it first opened the doors 60 years ago. There has been a lot of construction to the building; a lot more classrooms added on. It’s nice also to see some of that a few of the guests were here when the doors first opened. For them to see the change that’s happened to the school and how the school looks now in 2019 compared to when it opened 1959, it's amazing."
