Estevan's Special Olympics program is looking towards younger athletes who may have an interest in swimming, bowling and curling during the up coming city wide registration.

Their goal is to enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities, development disabilities and those with a cognitive delay through active participation in sport.

"We're going to try and get more athletes to come and join us," explained Special Olympics coach and volunteer Don Cameron. "With city wide registration I'm hoping we get some new and young athletes out to join special Olympics."

"Going to give letters to the schools because I know there is younger ones in schools and to try and get them to realize that there is Special Olympic sports in Estevan. We're hoping we can get younger athletes to come to the booth and talk to us. I'm hoping we have a lot more people come out and see what we have for them."

It seems like no organization will ever turn volunteers down and it's no different for the Special Olympics program in Estevan.

"If there's volunteers that want to join, they are very welcome too. We would like to see more volunteers out to help us," Cameron concluded.
