UPDATE 2: The tornado warning was lifted for Oxbow at 5:14 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was still in effect at the time.

The Mount Pleasant area, including Carnduff, remains under a tornado warning.

"At 5:14 p.m. CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

This severe thunderstorm is located near Glen Ewen, and is moving southeast at 25 km/h."


UPDATE: The following warning was listed by Environment Canada for Oxbow:

"At 4:57 PM CST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado.

Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

This severe thunderstorm is located near Oxbow, and is moving southeast at 25 km/h.

Locations impacted include: Oxbow, Glen Ewen, and Carnduff.

This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately.

Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.

Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.

As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Tornado warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing tornadoes."

At 5 p.m., the severe thunderstorm watch was lifted for Estevan.


Emergency alerts have been sounding in Estevan and the surrounding area saying there is a tornado warning for the following localities: Carlyle,
Redvers, Storthoaks, Alida, Carnduff, Gainsborough, Stoughton, Arcola, Lampman, Bienfait, North Portal, Alameda and Oxbow.

"Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado," said the alert. "Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Please consult local media for more information."

As of 4:58 p.m., Environment Canada's website only lists a severe thunderstorm watch for Estevan.
