Construction is typically the domain of the summer months when the weather is (usually) more cooperative. Or at least, planned construction is. Unplanned but necessary construction goes right on in spite of cold weather, blowing snow, and high wind.

The City of Estevan announced a road closure this afternoon that they expect will go right through the evening and well into tomorrow morning. A combination of the size of the break and the weather today doesn't help matters.

"The street is closed between 4th Avenue and 1st Street A on Perkins Street due to a water break," said City EMO Coordinator Helen Fornwald. "This closure will remain in effect until the construction work has been completed. The public is requested to avoid this area and find an alternate route during this time."

Fornwald added they weren't sure yet exactly how long the repair work would take, but she expected crews to be working well into the night. She also promised to provide an update once the work was complete, which wouldn't likely be until sometime later tomorrow morning.
