Three bantam teams from the Estevan Sharks water polo club won some and lost some at their first tournament of the season in Regina.

Eleven boys in total made the trip on Sunday. The Reef Sharks team went 1-2, defeating the Weyburn Hurricanes 8-2 before falling 7-3 to the Regina Dreadnoughts and 8-5 to the Regina Tugboats.

The Tiger Sharks had more success, pulling out a 3-0 run with a win over the Regina Dreadnoughts 5-2, a comeback 6-5 victory over the Regina Tugboats and a 9-1 domination, led by Tristan Threinen and Logan Dalziel, over the Regina Battleship.

The Tiger and Reef Sharks were set to square off against each other for the final game of the tournament, however, water contamination issues brought things to an early end.

The female Sharks, with all new members this year, had a choppy start to the season with a 0-4 performance. Losses came by scores of 7-6, 8-0, 10-8 and 8-3.

"We had enough males to take two teams, and they put in a great effort with a lot of winning games. Our girls faced some real tough competition, and with a team made up of most atom aged girls...they did very well for being an underaged team," shared Heather Tober with the club, "It's a great start to the season. We're looking forward to seeing what these bantam players have to offer this year."

The next Shark action will see the Atom and Mini teams in Weyburn on October 28th, and all Estevan teams back in Regina on November 4th.
