Work is progressing quickly on the demolition of the Civic Auditorium, as despite a late start the contractors are now ahead of schedule as day two commences.

"Half the building is down. We are now starting with the trucking phase out to the landfill, they'll be working on that today as well as more demo," shared City Parks and Facilities Manager Rod March.

"The entire building should be down by the end of the day, if not by tomorrow. Then they'll focus on just trucking to the landfill and then removal of concrete."

He expects the latter to be completed by next week, after which will come grading and rehabilitation of the site.
