People in the Midale and Griffen area were without power for around four hours last night.

"There was an outage last night," explained Jordan Jackle, a spokesperson with SaskPower, "actually in the early morning this morning that impacted customers in the Midale and Griffen and surrounding areas as well."

"It affected approximately 2,000 customers all told."

The power went out around 12:40 pm and came back online around 4:30 am.

"The issue was an equipment failure in a substation. Basically, a piece of equipment failed which caused a bit of burning. It was a domino effect, one piece failed and a failure in another piece of equipment down the road."

"It was a voltage trip so essentially the voltage wasn't quite right and the substation sensed that and shut off power so our crews could get in there and make those fixes."

Parts of Estevan also experienced a short power outage yesterday afternoon.
