The Candle-lit Ski was a great kick-off event for the family day weekend at Moose Mountain Provincial Park.
"We had around 100 people," shared Kim Brown, Park Manager for Moose Mountain Provincial Park, "the event started at Kanosee and it was like a come and go ski from the hours of 7,9. There were 3.2 kilometres of the candle-lit sea on our freshly groomed trail, which created a really magical ambience on a clear cool night. We had two roaring fires with hotdogs and hot chocolate that were donated by the park so everyone could have a magical experience."

There has been more abnormal cooler temperature but once out on the trails and moving it didn't feel as cold and with the two fires, it helped keep everyone from getting too cold. The event turned out good, despite the weather. They are thankful to everyone who came out to the event and hopes to see everyone again next year.

The Park's trails have been fairly busy from the amount of snow they have received, many snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers use the trails.
"We groom our cross-country ski trails every week as well as our snowmobile trails every week, we have the snowmobile association that grooms them on behalf of the park. We are hoping to see more people out and more events created within the park."

There has also been an increase of elk in the park this year as well.

"The elk population is up in Moose Mountain, I'd say the moos is down, but not to an extreme level that you have to worry about, but overall there's still a lot of elk in abundance so we're just trying to manage that right now."
