In what has been an uncertain few weeks, certain businesses around the Southeast have stepped up to help people who might be afraid or unable to get their own groceries. Now the town of Lampman is following suit.

Recently, the town announced it would offer to deliver groceries for people who may not be able to go out and get groceries on their own. This comes at around the same time as businesses like Southern Plains Co-Op have announced they would do the same.

"If they need help or need someone to pick up groceries for them," said town Administrator Dena Scott, "they can just contact the town office, and we'll make arrangements for someone to pick up groceries and deliver them for them."

When asked what prompted them to help out their residents in this way, Scott's answer was simple. "That's what you do in a small town. Everyone helps everyone."

Scott added that nobody has had to use the services just yet, but she sees people around the community doing a good job supporting one another as uncertainty mounts with fears of COVID-19, and as people become more isolated.

"I think everybody is being fairly self-sufficient," she said. "The neighbours are looking out for their neighbours. So we haven't had any calls yet."
