The lone game in the Big Six Hockey League on Sunday night provided a weekend's worth of entertainment as heard on CJ1150.

The Carnduff Red Devils never trailed, but needed overtime to come up with a 5-4 victory over Wawota in the Flyers' final game of the regular season.

Entering the game, Carnduff needed to defeat Wawota by four or more goals to earn the season tie-breaker and a chance at the top seed in the Big Six's East Division.

The Red Devils would start off the game the right way as Nico Anderson tipped home the Trevor Geiger shot on the powerplay to give Carnduff the early 1-0 lead at home.

With only minutes left in the first period, Geiger would earn a partial breakaway while shorthanded and his snapshot found its' way through Flyers' netminder Guillaume Blouin to give Carnduff a 2-0 lead after the first period.

The Red Devils would get an opportunity to blow the game wide open late in the second period, given a 5-on-3 powerplay for the full two minutes. However, Blouin and the Flyers' penalty killers would find a way to keep the score 2-0 and give their offence a chance to get back in the game.

Justin Lamontagne Found A Way To Get His Stick On The Puck For Wawota's First Goal Of The Game.

And that's precisely what happened in the final two minutes of the middle frame. First, Justin Lamontagne willed his way to his league-leading 23rd goal of the year, crashing into the net and the boards after tucking the puck past Carnduff's Adrian Rubeniuk. On the play, Carnduff would be issued a penalty.

The Flyers' took full advantage of the powerplay, as Rob West's point shot was deflected in front by Kent Sauter and the game would be tied 2-2 after two periods.

Carnduff would regain the lead just 45 seconds into the third period. On a partial breakaway, Landon Senchuk held off a defender with his left arm and one-handed the puck past Blouin with his right arm to put the Red Devils up 3-2.

Shawn Gallant's Goal Gave Carnduff A 4-2 Lead Midway Through The 3rd Period.

After a turnover by the Flyers, Geiger would feed Shawn Gallant in front who beat Blouin with a quick shot to give Carnduff a 4-2 lead. The Red Devils' shot at getting the tie-breaker would return, but that hope would be short-lived.

Wawota answered back on the powerplay as Ryan Taylor wristed his 11th of the year past Rubeniuk to make it 4-3. Then, with only 1:40 left in regulation, Sauter blasted home his second of the game to tie the match at 4-4 and force overtime.

Kent Sauter's Point Shot Beats Adrian Rubeniuk With 1:40 Remaining To Send The Game To Overtime.

In the extra frame, after chances at both ends of the rink, Carnduff Blake McMillen would get some space and take a hard shot in close on Blouin. Wawota's goaltender made the first save, but the rebound came right back out to McMillen who tucked it home short-side to vault Carnduff to a 5-4 overtime win.

What does it all mean for the standings entering the final week of the regular season? While only one first-round series' remains decided, some possible scenerios have been taken off the table.

Wawota finishes the season with 26 points and are currently first in the East division. They can finish no lower than second.

Redvers sits second in the East division with 24 points and two games in hand on Wawota. Owning the tie-breaker, Redvers needs only two points in their final two games (Friday @ Yellow Grass, Saturday vs Oxbow) to win the East division.

Carnduff sits third in the East division with 23 points. Redvers owns the tie-breaker on Carnduff as the two teams split their four games this season, but Redvers finished with a (+1) goal differential between the two teams. As a result, Carnduff must win in their final game of the season (Wednesday @ Oxbow) and have Redvers lose both remaining games in regulation for Carnduff to finish second in the East division.

Oxbow will finish fourth in the East division. They face the Bienfait Coalers (first in the West division) in the first round of playoffs.

Yellow Grass (second in the West) will play third place in the East. Midale (third) will play second place in the East. Carlyle (fourth) will play first place in the East.

Wawota's Justin Lamontagne registered one point in Sunday's game as his regular season comes to an end.

Lamontagne leads the Big Six in scoring as of Sunday, both in goals (23) and points (41).

That means Redvers Rockets' captain Jordon Miller will have two games left to try and pass Lamontagne for both the goal-scoring title and the scoring championship.

Miller is second in both goals (21) and points (40) and will face Yellow Grass on Friday and Oxbow on Saturday.

Wawota's Riley Riddell (35 points in 2016/17) has won the scoring title the past two seasons.
