Times haven't been easy for the Toronto Blue Jays. They came out to one of the slowest Aprils in their history. They improved in May only to drop back again. Any momentum they created was all but gone the next game. Currently on the All Star break, the Jays will look to bounce back and try and gain some ground in the AL East standing.

The Blue Jays currently sit on the bottom of the AL East standing and five games back of the Wild Card spot, with seven teams ahead of them. The Jays also rank in the bottom third of the entire league in offence and defense. And while injuries have played a big part in that, the Jays are also the oldest team in baseball and among the slowest.

The Blue Jays have tried to bolster their youth signing 23 year old Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to a seven-year, $22-million contract. They also have Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, playing in their minor league affiliate, Dunedin, FL.

All of this means that this trade deadline on July 31st, could be an interesting one. Some sources say the Jays could be sellers while say the the front office is willing to ride the situation out and develop a strong farm system rather than burning future bridges. If anything, the Jays will look to bolster their middle infielders and starting pitching.

Some names being thrown around include Josh Donaldson, Marco Estrada, Francisco Liriano and Joe Smith. Even Jose Bautista who recently signed a new contract with the team is said to be a name of interest for other teams.

The MLB All-Star game can be heard on CJ1150 at 6 pm.
