The Estevan Salvation Army's food bank has thousands of dollars and hundreds of pounds of food more now than they did Sunday morning, following the CPKC's Holiday Train stop in Estevan Sunday afternoon.

Dallas Smith and Mackenzie Porter performed for about half an hour before the US train continued northwest to Weyburn. It made its appearance in North Portal before Estevan.

The Estevan Salvation Army's community ministries director Ronza Reynard said CPKC donated $4,500 to the food bank, and $553.50 was collected in donations at the performance, along with 585 pounds of food.

"What a great success this was," said Reynard. "It will help us tremendously in the food bank. I think everybody had a great time. A little on the cool side, but it was a great Sunday afternoon and we just are very thankful to the community."

The train is continuing its trek to Regina and Moose Jaw on Monday evening, before venturing to Swift Current, Maple Creek, and Alberta on Tuesday.
