Smoke has cleared from the sky in the last couple days, which is a welcome sign. Though the sky being void of clouds is not ideal.

Cooler temperatures are providing a brief reprieve from warmer-than-usual summer temperatures in the southeast. But moisture remains in short supply.

"We're getting a bit of a break from the smoke right now, just because of the way the weather pattern is," said Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang. "What's really causing the issues with the lack of thundershowers is how dry it's been because often the showers form from moisture that's given off by the crop."
