Eight of the 11 teams in the Saskota Baseball League are slated to open the 2023 season Thursday night, barring any weather disruptions.

The Carlyle Cardinals will begin the quest for their fourth-consecutive title when they visit the Redvers A's.

The Estevan Taphouse Wolves will host the Southeast Diamondbacks at Lynn Prime Park.

In Carnduff, the Astros will welcome the Oxbow Chiefs.

And the Kenosee Cubs will bring in the Kipling Royals.

The Estevan game is a 7:30 p.m. start. The others are at 6:30 p.m.

There are a pair of new teams in the league this year. The Weyburn Sun Devils will make their debut on the road Friday night when they face the Arcola Threshers. And the Moosomin Badgers have their first league action at home next Tuesday when they face Carlyle.

Each team plays a 14-game regular season. Playoffs are carried out via the Harbourne Memorial Tournament, which will be in Estevan from July 28-30.
