The ever elusive .500 mark seems to be constantly just out of reach for the Toronto Blue Jays.

So far it's been a roller coaster ride for fans, beginning from their dark depths at the start of the season, to the heroic plays and win streaks, then a back and forth battle, never quite cracking an even number of wins and losses.

June 9th saw the boys in blue kick off a three game set against the Mariners in Seattle. It began rough, with a 4-2 loss. This score was then reversed the next day, as the Jays pulled out their own 4-2 victory. In the end, they managed to salvage a series win with a 4-0 shutout on day three.

After a day off, they took on an opponent at home that has appeared frequently on the diamond with them this season, the Tampa Bay Rays. This two game series was split, starting with an 8-1 drubbing by the visiting team, then finalized by a 7-6 victory.

Taking another break the next day, the Jays then welcomed the Chicago White Sox to town, only to lose the series 2 games to 1. It began with an 11-1 defeat and a 5-2 loss, before the Jays managed to save themselves from being swept completely, with a score of 7-3.

The 19th saw them head down south to pay a visit to the Texas Rangers. It was a tight match, and both sides had to call the series a draw, after a 7-6 win, 6-1 loss, 7-5 victory and 11-4 loss by the Jays.

Things got worse, as the road trip continued to Kansas City, where the Royals again took two of three for the series win. However, the Jays still managed to avoid a sweep, after 5-4 and 3-2 losses, followed by an 8-2 victory.

Following another day of rest, they took on the Baltimore Orioles back in Rogers Center. The blue uniforms struggled there too, although once again avoiding being swept as they fell 3-1, pulled out a 4-0 shutout, and then got put down themselves, 2-0.

Now dragging a 37-41 record around behind them, which seems to be a challenge to overcome, the Jays will look to improve their ball playing one game at a time. Their fans will wait anxiously to find out whether that .500 will become a reality, and with it a wildcard slot in the playoffs.
